San Francisco has 3 competing (complementary) car-sharing services: Zipcar,City CarShare,andFlexcar. Each has a fleet of vehicles including hybrids, convertibles, trucks (some even have BMWs and Volvos) available for use by the hour or by the day for affordable rates that include gas, maintenance, insurance, cleaning, registration fees, etc... Reservations may be booked online or via phone minutes in advance to up to a year ahead (although about 40% of all cars are currently booked the day of use). Save a ton of money.
